Part 6 – Final Consonants(받침)

The final consonant of a Korean syllable is called the bachim(받침). Any consonant can be placed as the final consonant(받침) in a Korean syllable but only seven different pronunciation values can be produced from the final consonant(받침). The following table displays which consonant produces which pronunciation when placed as the final consonant(받침) of a Korean syllable.

♦   Focus on the pronunciation value “t” as it has many consonants that differ from their original pronunciation values

♦   Also focus on “ㅇ” as it is pronounced as “ng” when place as the final consonant(받침)
